our legacy
In 1973 Sport Boats USA was brought to life by Glenn Garver. His primary product was a jet boat for use on area rivers and lakes with an occasional bass boat being sold with the help of local fishing guide Wallace Lee. In 1975 Wallace Lee joined the dealership and fueled expansion of the company into a full line bass boat store.
The partnership continued until the death of Glenn Garver in a boating accident on Bull Shoals Lake in 1978. In 1979 Ken Lamptom became the principal owner of the dealership and ultimately purchased the remaining portion from Wallace Lee in 1986. Expansion to a second location in Nixa, Missouri occurred with bass boats continuing to be the mainstay of Sport boats USA although aluminum boats were added on an ordered only basis.
In 1988, Sport Boats USA, Ltd was formed with the purchase of the company from Ken Lampton. The Forsyth location closed and the Nixa location was expanded. Presently owned by John and Shirley Williams and Jim and Donna Gibson, Sport Boats USA moved to its present location in Ozark, Missouri on January 1, 1993. The new location allowed for expansion and Sport Boats USA became a stocking dealer for OMC Aluminum Boats and with gradual growth became the world’s largest OMC aluminum dealer in 1998, 1999, and 2000 while remaining a top bass boat dealer.
Accomplishing an original goal of being a comprehensive marine dealership, Freeman Marine, the area dealership for Cobalt Boats, was purchased in 1994 starting the development of our Shell Knob location on Table Rock Lake. Cobalt boats are considered by many to be the finest pleasure boats in the world and have become a cornerstone of the current Sport Boats USA where complete customer satisfaction is our goal.
More recent product additions include Bennington Pontoons, Generation 3 aluminum boats, Skeeter and Triton fiberglass bass boats. We are proud to offer these exceptional products which have unequaled value, the highest quality and best performance in the marine industry.
